We believe that the best way to apply the skills you are learning in classes is through productions.  Because of this, MHYT produces several full-scale plays and musicals each semester - fall, spring, and summer! 

 

Whether it's your first show or your hundredth, our team is committed to challenging you in a safe, fun rehearsal environment.  Think of auditions as your moment to shine and help us place you where you will grow most!

Urinetown, The Musical

Where Words Once Were

                    Beginning Aug. 23rd

Audition Info:  Register below.  Please prepare a 1-minute monologue.

Set in a dystopian time where language is rationed, a sentence can get you sentenced and the silent are rising, our young hero Orhan discovers that a word can change the world. First produced by the Kennedy Center’s Theatre for Young Audiences program, Where Words Once Were is a powerful exploration of language and the impact of its absence. Fall rehearsals will culminate in a full production in our on-site black box theatre on October 27th - November 5th.

Audition Info: Register below.  Please prepare 16-bars (approx. 30-45 seconds) of a musical theatre song with a karaoke or piano track.

When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world! MHYT is thrilled to be offering a full scale production experience designed for students of all abilities who are interested in furthering their musical theatre knowledge and gaining performance experience! Rehearsals will culminate in a full tech week and performances of The Spongbob Musical at People’s Building on November 10th - 12th.

Audition Info: Register on the main Rising Stars page. Students will audition on the second night of rehearsals!  No need to prepare any materials.  All students will receive a role.

Scholarship Information:  We believe in reducing barriers to arts access in our

community.  Funding assistance and scholarships are available for all MHYT classes and productions.  If you would like to apply for assistance, do not register online.  Instead, email hello@mhyt.org with subject line "Scholarship."
